Hanging Note Pad
The Making Room has recently been busy with a group of lovely ladies. We gathered on a Wednesday night to create a simple hanging note pad.
SUPPLY LIST
1). Piece of wood approximately 10 by 5 inches
2). A roll of register/receipt paper
3). Twine or ribbon
4). Large metal clip
5). Elastic banding
6). Thumbtack
7). Pen
8). Paint
9). Paint brush
10). Hammer
HOW TO MAKE A HANGING NOTE PAD
1). Start with a piece of wood approximately 10 inches by 5 inches. For my hanging note pad I found a scrap of wood in my garage left over from a previous house project. Make sure your board is clean so the paint will stick to it. If you need to cut your board, make sure you sand the rough edges when you are done so that your finished note pad is smooth and finished looking.
2). Paint your board with one-two coats of paint. Allow paint to dry in between coats. You could also decoupage a piece of decorative paper onto your board using Modge Podge glue if you would like.
3). When your paint is dry, cut a small one inch piece of elastic banding for your pen holder. Fold the elastic piece in half, put your thumbtack through the two ends of the elastic, then with a small hammer, pound the elastic and thumbtack onto the BACK of your painted board, on the very edge of the board so that the loop of elastic is sticking out the side of the board. Position approximately in them middle so that your pen can hang to the side of your board.
4). Apply your metal clip to the top of the board.
5). Next cut a piece of twine or ribbon approximately 6-8 inches long. Thread it through your roll of reciept/register paper, and then through the metal clip on the board and tie it so the roll of paper hangs just below the clip.
6). Lastly, cut another piece of elastic banding to tie around the bottom of your board to hold the paper in place on the board.
7). Add a pen to your note pad, and you are ready to hang up your masterpiece!
